Simotrol Switchboards
SIMOTROL is a self supporting industrial rated switchboard of a modular design developed by Siemens but now manufactured under licence by Switchbuild.
It has a degree of protection up to IP54, (IP51 is standard). Equipment, busbar and cabling compartments are fully segregated to AS/NZS 3439.1:2002 Form 3b/4a assuring operator and maintenance safety.
Two styles of tier are available: single sided front access and double sided (back to back). Standardised busbar positions and bolted sheet metal fabrication allow for additional tiers to be added without cutting, welding or drilling.
Equipment modules consist of a demountable tray and associated door. The door is secured with chrome lift-off hinges and ¼ turn lock(s). For operator safety the door is interlocked with the handle of the isolating device ensuring that the door can only be opened in the off position. Power is fed from the vertical busbars to each module through insulated plug contacts. Module modifications and conversions can be carried out safely while the MCC is in operation. Modules of the same size are interchangeable. It is also possible to change the size of a compartment while the board is live; only the basic tools are needed.
The horizontal busbars are housed at the top rear section of the tier in a separate compartment; they are inaccessible from the equipment compartment. Access to the busbars (if required) is through the explosion vent on top of the cubicle. The vertical busbars are located in the rear of each tier; there are 2 sizes available, 630 Amps, and 950 Amps. All busbars are tin plated copper, the plating provides both a good electrical connection and a high corrosion resistance.
The cable ways which are run top to bottom have integral cable cleats. Non-ferrous gland plates are fitted top and bottom. All access for cable terminations is from the front.

Conformity
Simotrol LV switchboards have been tested to conform to Type-Tested Assembly (TTA) as described in AS/NZS 3439.1:2002.
Simotrol LV switchboards have been tested to conform to Limited Internal Arc Fault Tests as described in AS1136:1980, AS1136:1988.
Each Simotrol LV Switchboard manufactured by Switchbuild has routine tests performed on it to meet the requirements of AS/NZS 3439.1:2002.
